Ronald W. Anderson

Ronald Wayne Anderson, 78, of Dixon, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his son’s home in Etna, CA. He worked for the Rock Island County Illinois Sheriff’s Department from 1965 – 1966, the Milan Illinois Police Department from 1958 - 1965, and retired as a lieutenant from the Illinois Secretary of State Police on January 1, 1991, after 25 years of service.

Ronald was born January 22, 1934, in Hampton, IL, the son of Raleigh and Mabel Dorothy (Hofesetter) Anderson. He married Carol (Gillespie) Blattner on July 9, 1967, in Moline, IL. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2001. He was a member of the Dixon Gyro’s and the Dixon Elks Club B.P.O.E. #779.

Survivors include two sons, Rickie Carl (Teresa) Anderson of Etna, CA, Daniel Thomas Anderson of Rock Island, IL; two daughters, Kris (Joe) Burns-Anderson of Muscatine, IA, Catherine “Cathy” Webb of Silvis, IL; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Anderson; one granddaughter, Jennifer Larson; and one sister, Shirley Nice.

Visitation will be from 12 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by a 2:00 p.m., memorial service, with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
