Kenneth M. Miller, 93, of Dixon, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Heritage Square. He worked at Freeman Shoe Factory, farmed, drove a truck, and worked as a custodial engineer, prior to his retirement.
Kenneth was born June 30, 1919, in Nachusa, IL, the son of Jessie and Daisy (Sarver) Miller. Kenneth married Hazel Dalke on January 28, 2000. He was a Army Veteran of World War II, discharged as a Sergeant. Kenneth served his country in England, France, Belgium, Germany, Panama Canal Zone, New Guinea, the Philippine Islands, and Japan. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon, Lee County Council on Aging, American Legion Post 12, Dixon Elk’s Lodge B.P.O.E #779, Moose Lodge #727, and V.F.W. Post 540.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Miller of Dixon; one step-daughter, Bonnie (Kevin) O’Neal of Knightdale, NC; one sister, Bernie (Arthur) Horton of Dixon; three step-granddaughters; three step-great grandsons; and three step-great granddaughters.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one great grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 – 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, and from 10 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon, followed by an 11:00 a.m., funeral service at the church with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer, pastor, officiating. Burial with full military graveside services provided by the combined veterans organizations will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.
A memorial has been established to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon.
